New Facility for Quality Brood Stock Salmon Ltd.
In July of 2002, Vital Thebeau of Quality Brood Stock Salmon Ltd of Rossville, New Brunswick, began construction of a new brood stock facility. Once the tanks and pipe work were placed and a complete cement
floor was poured, Thebeau enclosed the brood stock operation with a 55' w x 150' l Cover-All® Legend® building.
Inside the Cover-All building, Thebeau created three rooms so that each room contained a tank with its own individual water system, filters, and LHO. "This will eliminate the transfer of any disease through the water from
one tank to another," says Thebeau. "Each tank will have fish that are a different age; in tank three the fish will spawn in November of the current year, in tank two the fish will spawn next November and in tank one the fish
will spawn in two years." Once the fish have spawned, the tank will be cleaned and sanitized before the fish from tank two are transferred over. Tank two goes through the same sanitizing process before the fish from tank
one are transferred in. "At this point we move in fish that were born in January into tank one. Our goal is to have three years of brood stock in the facility," says Thebeau. Each fish is pedigreed, tagged with a microchip, and a sample is sent away for DNA testing.
Thebeau's reasons for choosing Cover-All were based upon the interior environment and durability. "I love the natural light in this building. It provides my brood stock a more natural light and it's a cooler environment to
work in during the summer months." An abundance of natural light is allowed into Cover-All buildings because of the transparency of the non-conductive DuraWeave cover. The cover also moderates the interior
temperature of Cover-All buildings, so they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. "The building is basically maintenance-free and the wide clear-span area suites our needs," says Thebeau. Cover-All’s massive
clear-span space allows for more design flexibility and quick and efficient installation.
Cover-All buildings take less time to install in comparison to a traditional structure, meaning less downtime and sustained productivity.
