Cover-All Creates a Dog-Friendly Training Facility
Beverly Melchur has been training, raising and breeding German Shepherds for over 25 years on her 100 acre farm in Barto, Pennsylvania. While attending an agility trial, Melchur encountered her first Cover-All® building. "When I saw it, I knew that's what I wanted because I liked the openness. I need the light. That's what people enjoy about the building the most. Metal buildings just don't compare," says Melchur.
Melchur's Cover-All® TITAN® Low Slope not only provides a place for her German Shepherds to run, but it is also the base for her successful dog training facility. "Orchard Hills was named in honor of my husband, who wanted this building also. We have all levels of obedience training from puppy kindergarten to obedience to rally, and agility of all levels." The clear-span interior provides ample room for Melchur to store and set up her large variety of agility equipment. There is also a 95' x 95' square agility area covered with Sprint Turf, which Melchur explains is, "An artificial turf with rubber beading that gives the dogs extra padding and spring for when they jump. Everybody who's been on it has loved it." Melchur also finds that the training area is less cluttered, giving the dogs more room to train.
The facility is often rented out to various community clubs, including the Keystone Agility Club, and Melchur has also hosted several dog shows. "Everybody raved about the building. People have been here from Connecticut, from Florida, from Maine and they all rave about it. They were so impressed by it; the cleanliness of it and the ease of getting in and around it. I think they like the openness, the light. We don't need lights on during the day. We don't need many lights on at night too." By reducing her daytime and evening electricity needs, Melchur is using less power, resulting in lower operating costs.
Additional features to this Cover-All® building include side windows, side curtains, and front and back doors. Melchur enjoys these features because of their contribution to the overall environment inside the training facility. "The side windows and front and back doors open up, so it lets in the nice air. There's always a breeze going through."
Melchur is very satisfied with her building choice and feels that the environment inside the facility is more dog-friendly. "It just out rates a metal building by a long shot."
