The Perfect Building Design for an Event Center
Since 1989, Upper Clements Park has been a summertime destination for residents from all over Nova Scotia. With over 100,000 patrons, it is the province's largest live entertainment summertime venue. To better serve patrons and accommodate the various shows, Upper Clements Park added a 70' w x 90' l (21.3m x 27.4m) Cover-All® TITAN® building with seating for approximately 500 people. Prior to this new venue, entertainers and audiences were exposed to sudden weather changes.
'We considered a conventional building but the design of the Cover-All fits the amusement setting,'' says Herb Anderson, general manager, Upper Clements Park. ''The building is a welcome addition on rainy days, and on hot days it is always cooler inside the Cover-All. The building has increased our market presence, attracting new audiences and rental business from outside groups like evening shows, weddings and private parties. The response from the community has been great!''
This Cover-All® TITAN® building has two scalloped openings along each side of the building that add to the aesthetics of the fabric membrane structure and serve as entranceways for patrons of the event facility. The large overhead doors, located at one end of the building, are perfect for loading equipment and accommodating the 30' x 15' (9.1m x 4.5m) stage.
'With the scalloped openings and the fabric, the interior natural light and ambiance of the Cover-All building is tremendous,'' says Anderson. Cover-All''s DuraWeave® fabric cover allows natural light to penetrate, while its unique properties ensure it remains durable and resistant to ultraviolet damage.
To meet the June opening of the park, installation of the 4,200 square foot (390 sq. meter) TITAN® was completed in just three weeks, which included pouring a large 6" thick (15.2cm) concrete floor.
