Runestone Farm

At the age of fifteen, Kelly Theisen began her eventing career and went on to compete extensively over the years. She has many medals to her name including the Harry T Peters Trophy, USEA Intermediate Rider of the Year, gold and silver team medals at the North American Young Rider Championships, and most recently the Cindy Burge Scholarship for USEA Instructor Certification. Kelly currently instructs at Runestone Farm and has several young horses preparing for their eventing debut as well as a number of students competing at USEA events.

In Kelly's role as head trainer at Runestone Farm, she has the opportunity to share her skills and experience with upcoming riders and competitors. Part of her expertise extends to selecting the most optimal facility for riding and training. When Runestone Farm was seeing an increase in cancellations due to weather and interruptions in training, Kelly recognized the need for an indoor arena. After riding at a clinic in a Cover-All® building, Kelly knew she loved the facility and began researching Cover-All® buildings for Runestone Farm. Today, Runestone Farm has two Cover-All® Legend® buildings for an indoor arena and connecting stable area.

"The Cover-All feels bigger and less confining than steel arenas and the solar properties of the building keep it warmer on sunny winter days," says Kelly. "We love the brightness and the airy feeling in the buildings. There is no 'dingy' barn feel at all. The horses seem to appreciate the brightness in the stall area as well." The unique translucent properties of Cover-All's DuraWeave® fabric covers allow light to penetrate creating a bright interior for riding and training. The vast amount of natural light creates a comfortable sunny-day feeling, eliminating shadows and reducing energy demands. "Everyone is impressed with our buildings. We also get many comments on how clean our facility appears. I attribute this to the overall brightness of the buildings."

The Cover-All® arena connects to the stable area to allow for a viewing room and easier handling of the horses. "We were pleased to be able to connect the buildings in such a way that our viewing room has full view of the indoor arena," says Kelly. "We were going to go with a conventional steel building for the stable area and are very happy with our choice to use a Cover-All building. The high ceilings and ambient light are a huge improvement over conventional buildings."

With her sights set on competing at Rolex Horse Trials again some day, as well as riding for the US Equestrian Team, Kelly will have the opportunity to enjoy training year-round in the Cover-All® arena along with her students. Kelly is also happy to say that the building has greatly increased the teaching and training business for Runestone Farm!
