When Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd., a successful Calgary highway and maintenance firm,
began researching pre-engineered buildings to cover 22 locations of salt and sand
throughout Alberta, they soon discovered the logical choice was Cover-All Building
Systems.
“We are responsible for maintaining 25 per cent of the highways in Alberta, which is about
5,000 miles,” says David Toth, manager of design build projects. “Quality, flexibility and
portability were key factors in deciding on buildings. With Cover-All’s proven track record
for salt and sand storage in hundreds of rural and urban communities across North
America, the decision was easy.”
Not only were the buildings important to the project, but installation, foundation options
and meeting tight delivery timelines were also crucial. “What impressed us about (local
dealer) Cover-All Alberta’s proposal was their ability to meet the quality standards and
environmental requirements,” says Toth. “Cover-All Alberta’s foundation options,
installation process, quality of product, timelines for delivery and installation, as well as
the ability to relocate the building were all contributing factors to awarding then the tender.”

The buildings purchased vary in size
from 32' to 90' wide x 105’ long. All of the buildings’ frame systems
are constructed of galvanized steel tubing with an added triple coated
anti-corrosion Gatorshield® barrier. The durable polyethylene fabric is
also not affected by the harmful effects of salt and sand. Cover-All®
buildings are pre-engineered to meet wind and snow load requirements,
which was also important since the area is prone to severe wind and snow
loads.
To date, all of the 22 buildings have been
constructed on time and on budget. The buildings are located in remote rural
areas as well as in the center of a large city. “This project has been a total
team effort for all involved,” say John Cameron, dealer principle, Cover-All
Alberta. “Arranging the foundation details through to the erection of the
buildings requires client and Cover-All to work side by side.” |
